Why haven’t “Armageddon” and “Titanic” been released on Blu-ray yet?
I’ve been waiting for these two movies to come out on Blu-ray. I have Titanic on video tape and Armageddon is not anamorphic widescreen on DVD. So, I’m waiting for these to come out on Blu ray to get the “full experience” of these movies. They’re defintely two of my most favorite movies of all time.
Can we demand them to come on Blu-ray?
The original master for Armageddon was destroyed in a fire, according to Michael Bay, so they’ll have to remaster it, which is time-consuming. Bay personally supervises his films’ Blu-ray transfers, so it may be the result of his schedule: they won’t move forward with it until he’s got time to supervise it.
Camreon, similarly, personally supervises all of his home-video transfers himself. He’s currently working on completing Avatar, and does not have the time to work it. Only his two Terminator films have thus far recieved a Blu-ray edition. Many fans are waiting for Aliens, The Abyss, and True Lies as well as Titanic.
It’s also been reported that Cameron is working hard to shift the focus of the movie-going public away from home entertainment and back to theaters, where attendance has been declining.
But because all of his films have been major releases, and because there’s too much money in Blu-ray, they’ll all eventually be released. I would suggest they may come sometime in early or mid-2010 when Avatar is also being released, as this may increase interest and sales.
